Button up for prize-filled football Fridays

Iowa football coach Kirk Ferentz shows off one of last year’s rivalry buttons, “Cat-Nipped,” ahead of the September 2015 game against the Pittsburgh Panthers.

Black and Gold Fridays and rivalry buttons returning to campus

The UI Alumni Association and the UI Athletics Department once again invite you to show your Hawkeye pride and win cool prizes by wearing black and gold on home football Fridays throughout the fall.

“Prize crews” of students from the UI Athletic Department’s Hawks Nest, and the UI Alumni Association’s S.T.A.T. (Students Today, Alumni Tomorrow) will team up with Herky, the Iowa Spirit Squad, and the Iowa Pep Band to canvass the UI campus and surrounding communities.

They will reward fans dressed in black and gold with swag and encourage others to join the fun of a football weekend. Prize crews will be out early-to-mid morning and over the lunch hour on Fridays prior to all home football games. To track the prize crew around campus, use the hashtag #BlackandGoldFriday on social media.

This year also marks the return of our rivalry buttons, which are available the week of home games at all Hills Bank locations. Buttons will be handed out on Black and Gold Fridays and outside Kinnick Stadium on game day, as well.
