Read Between the Lines

When dealing with co-workers, supervisors, and clients, effective communication skills are key. How you say something is just as important as what you say. Your posture, mannerisms, and facial expressions have a major influence on how people interpret your message.

Join us on Monday, Sept. 23, for the UIAA’s Young Alumni Effective Communication Skills Seminar and Networking event at White Star Ale House in Cedar Rapids. Cassandra Willis, vice president at Dardis Communications, will discuss ways you can deliver effective and compelling messages. Come learn how to:

  • Convey confidence, earn trust, and lead others;
  • Apply effective physical delivery skills;
  • Control nerves, overcome inhibitions, and communicate key messages;
  • Uncover the importance of what we see versus what we hear; and
  • Create energy to keep audiences engaged.

This event is free for all UIAA members and $20 for nonmembers (includes one drink and appetizers). Deadline to register is Friday, Sept. 20.
