Big Things on the Horizon

The University of Iowa campus currently bustles with parents and new students anticipating the year ahead. For the incoming freshmen, everything here is new. Sure, nearly all of them have seen campus before, but never through the lens of a current UI student. When they look around their new home, they can perhaps visualize a gateway to their future success.

Meanwhile, the university is deep into projects that will only improve the student experience in the future. Near Kinnick Stadium, crews diligently work on the first phases of the new University of Iowa Children’s Hospital; on the corner of Burlington and Clinton streets, workers clear ground for the replacement School of Music Building; on the hillside next to Art Building West, a team lays the groundwork on the site for the new Art Building; and just off Park Road, a crew makes progress each day on what will become Hancher Auditorium. Each of these new facilities will help countless students achieve their educational goals. Some might feel inspired at a future Hancher production; others might go on to create great works of art. Just like the class of 2017, the University of Iowa looks ahead to big things are on the horizon.
