40 Years of Music and Memories

Back in 1973, former members of the Hawkeye Marching Band returned to Iowa City during Homecoming to perform in Kinnick Stadium for the first time since their graduation. Forty years later, this tradition is still going strong.

This October 4-5, former UI marching band members will arrive in town with trumpets, trombones, saxophones, and clarinets in tow. During a fun-filled weekend full of chances to reconnect with campus and former classmates, Alumni Band members will march in the Homecoming parade, catch up with old friends at the Alumni Band tailgate, and have the opportunity to perform in Kinnick Stadium before the Hawkeyes take the field against the Michigan State Spartans. Registration for Saturday’s tailgate and pregame performance is limited to 200 participants on a first-come, first-served basis.

It is an honor to celebrate 40 years of Alumni Band performances and we hope that all former Hawkeye Marching Band members will consider coming back for this special occasion. We look forward to seeing you here this October as we celebrate “Countless Hawkeyes, One Spirit” during Homecoming 2013.

Deadline to register is Friday, September 6, 2013.
