Sharing the Snow

It’s safe to assume that by now you’ve heard about the storm approaching the Midwest. While a snowstorm in February isn’t out of the ordinary here in Iowa, a blanket of white in Arizona is another story entirely. The Arizona Sonoran Desert received a rare winter storm yesterday that left spring training facilities covered in snow and delayed the first round of a major golf tournament in Tucson.

You’ve probably seen a number of posts or tweets regarding this latest winter storm. From California to the Great Plains, people are using social media to post photos, share articles, and reach out to those in the path of the storm. Today, social media has become a primary resource for many to gain information about impending inclement weather.

Take a look at these photos from the rare snowfall in the Arizona desert that were posted online:

UI alumni who attended last night’s presidential reception in Phoenix had the opportunity to experience some Iowa-like weather while listening to UI President Sally Mason. We’re always happy to share the snow!
