Jennie Lillis Baranczyk, 04BA, is the only Iowa women’s basketball player in history to rank in the school’s all-time top 10 in scoring, rebounding, assists, blocks, and steals. She’s also one of only two Hawkeyes to top 1,700 points and 800 rebounds in her career.

A three-time team captain, Baranczyk started in 121 of her 122 games at Iowa. She earned first-team all-Big Ten honors as a junior and senior and was also a three-time academic all-Big Ten selection. Recipient of the 2004 Big Ten Conference’s Medal of Honor, Baranczyk led the Hawkeyes to four postseason appearances, including three NCAA Tournaments.

After graduating from Iowa in 2004 with a bachelor’s degree in communication studies, Baranczyk earned her master’s degree in counseling and student development at Kansas State. She also served as an assistant coach at Kansas State, Marquette, and Colorado.

This past spring, Baranczyk returned to her hometown to become head women’s basketball coach at Drake University in Des Moines.
