Hawk & Husker Heroes

Before the first snap of today’s football game, three special citizens of Iowa and Nebraska will be recognized for their extraordinary acts of service. This is the spirit of the Heroes Game, a new Big 10 tradition that began just last year.

This year, representing Nebraska, Jason Parks of Omaha will be honored for his courage in rescuing a truck driver from a fiery wreck. After witnessing the collision on his way to work, Parks pulled the driver to safety moments before an explosion. In addition, Lois and Bill Hall of Clinton will receive the Iowa recognition for their work to raise dogs that assist in emergency search and rescue missions and make therapy visits to schools and hospitals.

The athletic directors of both universities will introduce Parks and the Halls prior to the game, and their names will appear on the Heroes trophy.

Congratulations to these fine people who represent the best of the Midwest!
