Pucker Up to the Pig

This morning, a trailer pulled up to the UI Alumni Association’s Levitt Center headquarters. Inside was a smelly pink pig primping for a kiss.

All week long, UI Alumni Association and Foundation staff voted with their dollars for which of their leaders would pucker up to the pig. This morning, UIAA President Vince Nelson kissed the swine in an event that raised more than $900 for the United Way of Johnson County.

The “Kiss the Pig” competition was one of many ways that Levitt Center staff members showed their support for the United Way in this year’s LevittUnited campaign. Employees made pledges to the United Way, competed in “Minute to Win-It” challenges, and held bake sales and a silent auction to reach their goal of 80 percent participation. In addition to these fundraising efforts, they also volunteered their time to local United Way partner agencies to see firsthand how the organization strengthens the community.

Staff members will learn later this afternoon how much bacon they raised for the United Way at a celebratory “Pig-Out Tailgate.”
