Dog-Gone Happy!

Is there anything cuter than a fuzzy critter showing school spirit? We think not. Earlier this year, Las Vegas IOWA Club leader Kristy Hingtgen, 96BS, was unpacking a box of pom-poms—sent to her by the UIAA to use at Hawkeye gatherings—when she heard a rustling. She turned around to see little Owen getting into mischief.

Throughout the year, the UIAA helps hard-working volunteer club leaders like Hingtgen celebrate the UI in their home communities. In addition to providing party materials, association staffers help edit and send hundreds of emails and newsletters to club members with news of upcoming events like game watches and social or philanthropic activities. As for the puppy who couldn’t resist a pom-pom?

“It’s a good thing he’s a Hawkeye fan,” laughs Hingtgen. “He can stay!”
