Traveling for the Greater Good

I  had a very successful experience on August 28 at the University of Iowa Volunteer Fair, where I spoke to UI students about a volunteer opportunity to work with disadvantaged children in Romania. This opportunity—now in its 8th year—is made possible by the Dr. Ken Magid Child Advocacy Scholarship, funded by UIAA board member LindaBaker (UIAA Directors Club Honors Circle Member, 68BA) of Golden, Colorado.

With the assistance of our three 2012 scholarship winners (Shannon Becker, Lauren Rosa, and Simone Renault) who helped staff our booth, we explained the mission and details of the program to dozens of UI students, with many signing up to receive more information and scholarship applications for the 2013 trip.
