Fun with Physics

Our featured article this week from the April 2009 issue of Iowa Alumni Magazine profiles UI professor Bob Merlino, whose “Physics of Everyday Experience” class is inspiring undergrads with hands-on demonstrations and answers to how various things in the physical world function.

“Students expect that if they know the facts, that will be enough, but it’s not,” says Merlino. “I expect a certain degree of intellectual involvement. I want them to think on their own.”

The article is open to everyone at the link below for a limited time. Access to the entire magazine remains an exclusive UIAA member benefit—so please consider joining today!
