Equality on the Mat

Terry Steiner, 93BA, is advocating for female wrestlers as the national women’s coach, the first in USA Wrestling history. Steiner, who was a three-time All-American and NCAA champion at Iowa, learned valuable life lessons through wrestling, and hopes to pass on his knowledge to the squad.

[The women on the national team] had brothers, dads, and uncles who dragged them to wrestling tournaments. They fell in love with the sport, and then people told them they couldn’t do it,” he says.
