Iowa Voyagers Travelogue: Antarctica

Earlier this year, Steve, 73BSPh, 78PhD, and Teresa Berge, 74BSPh, of Blaine, Minn., and Mary Ann Miller of Iowa City boarded the M.S. Boréal for an adventurous expedition to Earth’s southernmost continent—bringing back many amazing memories.

The explorers saw an avalanche, icebergs, humpback whales, and some of the most stunning sunrises and sunsets they’ve ever seen. They also came face-to-face with penguins and seals as they enjoyed the spectacular scenery of this unspoiled wilderness.

Luckily, excellent weather with temperatures in the 30s and little to no wind only enhanced the experience.

“Everything is so pristine and quiet except for the sounds of nature,” says Teresa Berge. “It is truly the trip of a lifetime!”
