Alumni Night at the Figge Art Museum, October 7

Shortly after the flood of 2008, when the Figge Art Museum in Davenport began showcasing some of the UI Museum of Art’s (UIMA) collections, the UIAA hosted an event at the Figge. We had a great turnout, and I was pleased with the outcome of the event. My experience in event planning has taught me that if someone is working for you, keep doing it. So once again, the UIAA, in partnership with the UIMA, will be hosting “UI Alumni Night at the Figge” on Thursday, October 7, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Because many of our Quad Cities alumni have seen the collection, we’re putting a different spin on the event. Dale Fisher, UIMA director of education, will discuss the UI collection and its use as an educational tool, the future of the museum, and address the UIMA’s efforts to fulfill its mission without convenient access to the collection. The tour will focus on a few key pieces, emphasizing educational goals rather than historical perspective. And, of course, we’ll be serving up delicious food. Alumni can partake in a cash bar and live music.

See you soon in Davenport,

Christina Wright
Assistant Director of Alumni Programs
