Dress Code: Black and Gold

Black and gold dayAfter working together on Iowa Alumni Magazine for five years, Shelbi Thomas and I have developed a kind of mental telepathy. Super Shelb will often “read my mind” and do exactly the right thing to start or complete a project without even being asked.

Today, I discovered that Shelbi and I do more than think alike—we also dress alike!

Arriving at the office on casual Friday, I discovered that we’d both (without prior arrangement) donned the exact same Iowa Alum T-shirt. Given the extensive stash of UIAA apparel we’ve both accumulated over the years, that’s quite a feat.

Of course, we’re not the only ones decked out in black and gold today. Plenty of other people across campus are demonstrating their Hawkeye pride and sending out positive vibes as the Iowa football team flies out to grapple on the gridiron with the Arizona Wildcats.

Here’s hoping the Hawks get a stupendous victory to match last week’s rout of Iowa State.
