A Winning Team

Most work days at the University of Iowa Alumni Association don’t end with a group hug. However, last Thursday we heard some news too exciting not to celebrate.

On that day, the UIAA communications team received word that we’d been honored by our chapter of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education with three 2011 Pride of CASE V regional awards. We earned the gold for best institutional website (wordpress.iowalum.com); the silver for excellence in feature writing, series, for the “Think”/”In Class” articles; and the bronze for best alumni/institutional magazine, FTE 10,000 and up (only Iowa Alumni Magazine was given an award in this category). That means the UIAA website and magazine are among the best in the Midwest!

Maybe this recognition shouldn’t come as a surprise, as the UIAA communications staff has racked up seven national and 12 regional CASE awards in the last two decades. However, these latest awards mark a special milestone for me, as they are the first of my professional writing career.

Here at the alumni association, we’re pleased to bring you a top-notch magazine and website that represent the University of Iowa well—and hope you enjoy all the quality benefits that your UIAA membership has to offer.
