Goodbye, S.T.A.T. Hello, FAN!
The UI Alumni Association’s student organization has a new name. With the start of this semester, Students Today, Alumni Tomorrow (S.T.A.T.) has become the Future Alumni Network (FAN).
A staple of the UIAA for 37 years, the student organization celebrated its transition from S.T.A.T. to FAN with a launch party in January at the Iowa Memorial Union.
While FAN still hosts popular student programs such as the Dodging for Dreams dodgeball tournament, the Nearly Naked Mile philanthropic race, and Beat State Week, it also debuts the Connect 4 You four-part networking series this year to prepare students for alumni life.
The new Connect 4 You programs will help students at each stage of their college career become more involved in and network with the Hawkeye community, learn business etiquette, prepare for job interviews, and learn about opportunities available to alumni through the UIAA.
Here’s a glimpse of what students can expect in four or more years with FAN:
First year: Find Your Passion.
- FAN will introduce you to many of our campus’ exciting events and organizations. Then, later in life, the UIAA will keep you connected through our active network of alumni groups.
Second year: Discover Our Community.
- Immerse yourself in our vibrant Hawkeye community as a student, then maintain that bond once you leave Iowa City with our IOWA Clubs around the globe.
Third year: Build Your Network.
- Networking is in our name for good reason. We’ll provide you with opportunities to meet and learn from accomplished alumni who will help you hone your career goals.
Fourth year-plus: Prepare For Success.
- As graduation day nears, we’ll provide you with the resources needed to succeed as a proud UI alum. Wherever you go, you’re “Always a Hawkeye!”
