In fact, we wrote a poem all about uniting our love of the holiday and our school spirit for a celebration we’ve deemed Hawk-O-Ween.

What Are You Going to Be for Hawk-O-Ween?

“Hawk-O-Ween is near

Let’s dress up in our best Iowa gear!

Herky the Hawk or Hayden Fry,

A football player or ref who stands by

Maybe Walden Schmidt?

Willy Wonka, Shoeless Joe, the list won’t quit!

Think skits from that SNL guy

Or the radiation belt in the sky

Heroes Nancy Drew,

Dick Tracy, and Superman are a few

A cheerleader or the Golden Girl

Brands brothers, Nile Kinnick, or Acie Earl

Wear your Hawkeye pride

Be safe, have a blast, and stay warm outside

We would love to see how you look

Send us a picture to share on Facebook

We hope you enjoyed our rhymes. Now it’s your turn!

Please send photos of you wearing your Hawkeye-inspired costumes to alumni-member@uiowa.edu AND be sure to like and follow us to view the submissions. Ours is at the top of this post.

If dressing up isn’t your style, then how about sending a snapshot of a UI-themed carved or decorated pumpkin? These templates can get you started.

After Halloween, we’ll post an album of all the images on Facebook.

We can’t wait to see your creativity. Happy Hawk-O-Ween and thanks for being part of the UIAA community!
