C is for Cookie Control

Since 1969, Sesame Street’s Cookie Monster has educated and entertained young children with his ravenous—yet hilarious—appetite. While the blue, googly-eyed Muppet has taught children the alphabet since his debut, he hasn’t always been a model of self-control. Until now.

On Tuesday, April 22, the UIAA will present Deborah Linebarger, UI associate professor of education, director of the Iowa Children’s Media Lab, and a congressional consultant, for a discussion regarding the media’s influence on children. During the presentation, Linebarger will share details of a new Sesame Street project that uses Cookie Monster to help preschoolers learn self-control skills.

Before the event, we invite you to attend a welcome reception for Christopher Morphew, the College of Education’s new executive associate dean for research and innovation.

We hope you’ll join us for this engaging event. Deadline to register is noon on Monday, April 21.
