Why Won’t They Budge?

Negotiation skills are important in the office and at home. Whether it’s coming to terms on a complicated business deal or on an agreeable bedtime for your children, recognizing what the other party wants—and how you can come to an amicable agreement—is an essential asset to have.

In conjunction with the Iowa State and University of Northern Iowa alumni associations, the UIAA will soon host our second networking event in Des Moines. On Wednesday, May 8, UI, ISU, and NIU alumni are invited to a luncheon and lecture at Dos Rios Cantina and Tequila Lounge. Lon Moeller, UI clinical professor and associate dean of undergrad programs in the Henry B. Tippie College of Business, will discuss the basics of recognizing what people want from a negotiation and how you can more effectively reach an agreement. Deadline to register for this event is noon on Wednesday, May 1.
