Hawkeye History: June 04, 1983

The University of Iowa had just taken possession of the Mayflower Apartments on Dubuque Street. Originally constructed in 1966 as a private apartment building, Mayflower offered room for over 1,000 students and suite-style living, where a kitchen and bath were shared with an adjoining room.

After weathering floods in 1993 and 2008, Mayflower has been repaired, renovated, and reopened to continue offering a unique living experience to UI students. Over the years, a number of facilities and services have been added, including a computer lab, fitness center, ATM, and convenience store. Did you get a chance to experience living in Mayflower?
