Ready to Mingle

Last night, over 30 students and 20 alumni volunteers attended the fourth annual Students Today, Alumni Tomorrow (S.T.A.T.) Mocktail Party here at the Levitt Center. Hawkeye History: February 16, 1988

The Iowa women’s basketball team defeated Drake, 74-38. The win moved the team to 20-0, and solidified its grasp on the No. 1 ranking in the country. Coach C. Vivian Stringer’s squad eventually finished the season with a Big Ten title and a 29-2 record, the best in school history.

Hawkeye History: February 13, 1990

Film director Spike Lee spoke to an audience of 1,400 people at the Iowa Memorial Union. He received laughs, boos, a standing ovation, and a special Iowa football jersey with his name on it.

Hawkeye History: February 08, 1961

Four out of five starters on the men’s basketball team were ruled academically ineligible, leaving only team captain Don Nelson–who would later go on to play and coach in the NBA. At the time, the Hawkeyes were ranked ninth in the country with a 12-3 record.
