Hawkeye History: February 23, 1999

Iowa men’s basketball coach Tom Davis coached his final game at Carver-Hawkeye Arena, a 65-48 victory over Northwestern. Davis still boasts the most wins in school history, with a
269-140 record in 13 seasons. He recently returned to Iowa City to help commemorate the 25th anniversary of the 1986-87 squad, which delivered an incredible 30-5 season and sent several players to the NBA.

Did you know?

- Milio’s Sandwiches was still known as Big Mike’s Super Subs.

- Smoking was allowed in the UI dormitories.

- The minimum wage was $5.15 per hour. An Iowa Senate bill currently making the rounds proposes raising the minimum wage to $10 in the next year.
