Hawkeye History: January 11, 1975

The UI put the finishing touches on its new, no-fare campus bus system. Now known as Cambus, the student-operated system aimed to connect the east and west campuses and alleviate parking congestion.

Did you know?

- Mayflower Residence Hall was still a private apartment building, offering rent starting at $83 a month.

- The James Bond film “Diamonds are Forever” was playing at the Englert Theatre for $1.75.
