The Cedar Rapids and Iowa City Railway Company cleared the area above the Coralville Dam, leaving four miles of thick and smooth ice downstream on the Iowa River.  The Daily Iowan declared “the skating to be excellent.”

Did you know?

-       In intramural basketball action, the Liberal Arts team beat the Medics 13-8, playing on the Armory floor.

-       Local drugstores offered Ponds cream, advertised as good for “cuts, ‘neuralgia, headache, burns, sprains, chafing, and razor rash.”

-       The Bijou Vaudeville Theater featured a traveling circus consisting of 5 people, ponies, dogs, cats, and mules.  Admission is 10 cents.

What do you enjoy doing in the wintertime? If your answer is “relaxing on a sunny beach,” we’re jealous!
