Mission to Mars

If you read the October Iowa Alumni Magazine feature about the UI alumnus who heads up NASA’s Planetary Science Division, here’s a follow-up news story. One of the biggest challenges facing James L. Green, 73BA, 76MA, 79PhD, and his team of experts was getting the next Mars Explorer safely to the Red Planet.

This week, Curiosity finally launched on its epic journey. You can read about it here: www.msnbc.msn.com/id/45453320/ns/technology_and_science-space.

And if you missed our story about James Green (who’s an incredibly nice guy, as well as an astrophysicist) and his impressive work at NASA, here’s a link: wordpress.iowalum.com/magazine/oct11/spacemission.cfm.

You’ll need to log in with the UIAA members’ password to access the story. Forgotten the password? E-mail alumni-member@uiowa.edu with your full name, city, and state, and we’ll send you a reminder.
