Exclusive Wave Basin Facility Tour

Did you know that the University of Iowa has a new $4.9 million IIHR—Hydroscience & Engineering Wave Basin Facility used to study naval ship design?

On Tuesday, November 29, UIAA members can enjoy an exclusive tour of the state-of-the-art facility from Fred Stern, UI professor of mechanical and industrial engineering. The facility includes a 40x20x3-meter wave basin used to test captive or radio-controlled model navy ships under different oceanic conditions, which is vital in helping researchers test computer simulation codes for U.S. naval ship designs. Please register by Tuesday, November 22, if you’d like to attend this event.
