African Adventures Await

With so many enticing destinations to choose from in the Iowa Voyagers 2012 schedule, it’s hard to say I have a favorite.  But I’ve always wanted to visit the African continent—and we have two great trips that would make that dream come true. Each trip explores a different part of Africa at two different times of the year.  Wish I could go on both!!  What about you?

Portrait of South Africa  April 27 – May 6, 2012
South Africa is a land of stunningly diverse landscapes, wildlife, and history. Imagine being at the tip of Africa, where majestic mountains stand guard over unspoiled beaches, and a unique penguin colony frolics not far from cosmopolitan Cape Town. Take a cable car ride to the summit of Table Mountain or drive along the picturesque coast to Cape Point, where two oceans converge and appear to boil. Discover the historic towns where you can taste excellent wines among the pastoral beauty of South Africa’s verdant Cape winelands. Experience three nights in the Kapama Private Game Reserve, a rare opportunity to train your binoculars on the horizon in search of the Big Five – elephant, lion, leopard, rhino, and Cape buffalo.

Africa’s Wildlife  November 11 – 25, 2012
Get a glimpse of a primeval world that awaits on this singular safari to Botswana’s Chobe National Park. Explore Zambia’s exceptional Lower Zambezi National Park, a remote jewel of an unspoiled preserve. Enjoy in-depth touring of Victoria Falls including a sunset cruise on the Zambezi. Encounter local village life with a visit to a nearby settlement. Embark on an elephant-back safari through the bush of Victoria Falls Private Game Reserve. Experience a Lion Walk with orphaned cubs now being protected at the reserve. Travel to Botswana and Chobe national Park, boasting one of the largest concentrations of game in all of Africa. Enjoy multiple game drives and boat safaris for an up-close look at the exceptional array of wildlife – including the world’s largest elephant population, along with zebra, lion, giraffe, impala, wildebeest and buffalo, as well as other magnificent wildlife.
