Guests from around Iowa celebrated Iowa Voyagers’ 50th anniversary and enjoyed the distribution of door prizes.

Last Friday, May 20, fans of the Iowa Voyagers gathered to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the UI Alumni Association’s alumni travel program.

The mood was festive, with guests enjoying anniversary cake, cookies, and other refreshments at the Levitt Center for University Advancement. Travelers also had the chance to peruse the 2012 tour opportunities and chat with tour operators. But, the most exciting time came when the prizes were awarded to lucky winners. The grand prize, a Danube River Grand Passage for two provided by Alumni Holidays International, went to Mary Jo Langhorne of Iowa City.

Mary Jo was thrilled, saying: “I haven’t taken a Voyagers tour before, although I’ve considered it many times. And as I haven’t attended this event before, I feel especially fortunate to have won!”

Mary Jo Langhorne, 75MA, of Iowa City (center),  receives the grand prize from Joseph Small (right) and Chris Luskin (left) of Alumni Holidays International (AHI).  Mr. Small is president and owner of AHI and Ms. Luskin is regional sales director.

In addition to the grand prize, several large discount and monetary prizes certificates were awarded to happy winners. We wish to thank all of our wonderful tour operators who supplied great gifts in honor of the Iowa Voyagers 50th birthday!
