Ladies, Take the Field

For every woman who’s dreamed of running along the green Kinnick turf, a football tucked under her arm—this is your summer to shine.

On June 18, from 4 to 9:30 p.m. at Kinnick Stadium, the women of Hawkeye Nation will have the opportunity to participate in the first annual Iowa Ladies’ Football Academy to benefit pediatric patients at the UI Children’s Hospital. Participants will learn the mechanics of the game under the direction of some of the best coaches in college football, including Kirk Ferentz and Ken O’Keefe.

Academy events will feature a tour of the pink locker room, the chance to see your image on the Jumbotron as you warm up with strength and conditioning coaches, a crash course on the Xs and Os of football, as well as a postgame wrap-up with Coach Ferentz.

Registrations are being accepted now. Cost is $50 to register and each participant must raise a minimum of $300 to take part in the festivities. Those who go above and beyond the minimum requirements are eligible to win exclusive Iowa football prizes (awarded during the academy’s closing ceremonies).

Space on the team is limited and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information and to register online, visit
