Alumni Help Needed!

I would like to invite all of our local alumni to participate this February in our third annual Mocktail Party, a unique event to enhance our students’ networking and communications skills in preparation for life beyond college.

The event will include an instructional hour hosted by Margie Peskin of Search Forward career development firm. Ms. Peskin will teach students proper cocktail party etiquette, including eating challenging hors d’oeuvres, juggling a plate or a glass while mingling, and holding proper conversations. After the instruction, students will have the opportunity to apply their newly learned skills in a mocktail party setting. If you are interested in attending Ms. Peskin’s session, please let me know and we will accommodate your request.

How can you help? We need alumni volunteers willing to engage in meaningful discussions with our students. Alumni will mingle and share their professional experience with students. The mocktail party is at the Levitt Center on Wednesday, February 23, 2011, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. We are recruiting a number of alumni from the Iowa City/Cedar Rapids area with a variety of backgrounds and degrees.

Please let me know if you are available. Contact me at 319/335-3854 or leslie-prideaux@uiowa.edu. If you would like to know more about our organization, please visit wordpress.iowalum.com/stat.
