Celebrate the Constitution

If you’re in Iowa City this Friday, stop by Hubbard Park at noon to hear U.S. Army cadets read the Constitution. The event will mark the 223rd anniversary of the signing of this important document that set the framework for the United States government. You can also pick up a copy of the Constitution at the UI Main Library and at most of the downtown coffeehouses.

Here’s the UI Libraries’ guide to the Constitution, which begins like this: “We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”
